What is Stainless Steel Checker plate and what is it used for?

Checker plate is a flat metal sheet that has raised ellipse shape relief on one face to improve grip and reduce accidents which makes it a popular choice for use on ramps, walkways, stairs, and the interior of commercial vehicles. In recent years it has become popular in shopfitting and interior design applications due to its interesting surface finish.

Checker plate is also often referred to as durbar plate, diamond plate, or Positive Grip Pattern (PGP) floor plate. The plate has a flat face underside for securing to floors and other surfaces.

Our stocks are manufactured from 304 grade stainless steel which has good corrosion resistance and excellent weldability properties. The sheets are 3mm thick, and are available in a range of dimensions up to 2500mm x 1250mm, but can be custom cut to size during the ordering process so you only pay for what you want- this reduces waste and saves you time and money.

We also supply aluminium treadbrite plate which is lighter in weight than steel, and mild steel checker plate which offers a similar strength to stainless-steel but can be more easily cut and welded.
