What is Stainless Steel Checker plate and what is it used for?
A checker plate is a flat metal sheet featuring a raised elliptical pattern on one face, designed to improve grip and reduce the risk of slips and accidents. This makes it an ideal choice for ramps, walkways, stairs, and the interiors of commercial vehicles. In recent years, its distinctive surface finish has also made it popular in shopfitting and interior design, where it adds both texture and visual interest.
Also known as a durbar plate, diamond plate, or Positive Grip Pattern (PGP) floor plate, the checker plate has a flat underside, making it easy to secure to floors and other surfaces.
Our stock is manufactured from 304 grade stainless steel, offering excellent corrosion resistance and weldability. The sheets are 3 mm thick and available in a range of sizes up to 2500 mm x 1250 mm. Custom cutting is available during the ordering process, so you only pay for the exact dimensions you need, thus reducing waste, saving time, and lowering costs.
We also supply aluminium treadbrite plate, which is lighter in weight than steel, and mild steel checker plate, which offers a similar strength to stainless-steel but can be more easily cut and welded.
