What is aluminium channel and what is it used for?

We have a large range of sizes of aluminium channel and supply standard lengths up to a maximum of 5 metres, or custom cut to your exact requirements. All sizes are held in stock to ensure a quick delivery.

Channel is also often referred to as C channel or U channel- depending on which way round you hold it, and is commonly used for general fabrications, light construction projects, decorative finishing, shop fitting, vehicle construction, and boat building.

Fabrication is easy as Aluminium can be easily cut with power tools, or with a hacksaw; you can also drill and machine it very easily.

Welding is possible with the correct tools and equipment, although it does take more skill than welding mild steel, but why not give it a go- we supply a full range of aluminium welding rods, machines, and consumables.

Pure aluminium is relatively soft but is normally alloyed with other metals to improve its mechanical properties. It is a durable, lightweight metal, it is non ferromagnetic and does not easily ignite, it has good corrosion resistance and an excellent strength to weight ratio.

This product is supplied in Mill finish, which is the finish and surface condition of aluminium immediately after it has been extruded. The finish and surface visual characteristics vary considerably between batches, manufacturers, and even between items produced in the same batch.

If appearance is important, we recommend our anodised aluminium channel.
