What are stainless steel bolts and what are they used for?

Our stocks of stainless steel bolts have a partial thread and a hexagon head. Produced from grade 304 stainless steel, these bolts have good corrosion resistance and are available in M5 through to M20 diameter.

304 stainless is often referred to as A2 or 18/8 steel (18% chromium / 8% nickel). The chromium content provides the steel with high hardness properties and very good dimensional stability combined with good resistance to wear and tear. A2 or 304 stainless steel is suitable for use in areas of high pollution, damp conditions, and within applications within coastal areas.

Stainless steel bolts are suitable for joining two or more layers of metal or mixed materials firmly together; when used to join steel and aluminium it is advisable to weather-proof connecting points with suitable paint or tape to reduce the electrical conductivity that may cause corrosion between these dissimilar metals.
