David Hare: A Custom Storage Tower Built for a More Organised Studio

Great projects don't always have to be large-scale—they're often the ones that solve everyday problems in clever and practical ways.

Our customer recently shared this fantastic studio storage solution, designed to free up valuable bench space by creating a bespoke tower for printers and scanners. Featuring melamine slat shelves for easy cable management, the finished build is a tidy, functional addition that makes the workspace far more efficient.

What makes this project even more inspiring is the story behind it.

Having not undertaken any metalwork since school lessons, our customer decided to take on the challenge at the age of 79. The result is a smart, practical storage solution that proves it's never too late to start a new project.

Built Around Practicality

Custom fabrication allows you to create solutions that simply aren't available off the shelf. By designing the tower around their own equipment, our customer was able to:

  • Free up valuable bench space
  • Improve cable management
  • Create dedicated storage for printers and scanners
  • Build a solution tailored to their workspace

It's a brilliant example of how steel can be used to solve everyday challenges with strength, durability, and a personal touch.
