Refurbished Plant Trailer with Custom Aluminium Cage

We love seeing older equipment given a new lease of life — and this trailer refurbishment is a fantastic example of practical DIY done right.

One of our customers started with a used small plant trailer and completely transformed it. With careful planning, quality materials, and some hands-on fabrication, the result is a strong, reliable trailer built to handle plenty more years of work.

From Worn-Out to Work-Ready

The project began with a full refurbishment of the trailer's running gear. It was stripped back, reconditioned, and repainted to restore both appearance and performance. New flooring, updated side panels, and replacement lights were fitted to ensure it was road-ready and safe.

But the real transformation came with the addition of a custom-built cage.

Custom Aluminium Sides and Cage

To properly upgrade the trailer, our customer chose aluminium materials cut to size by us, making fabrication straightforward and efficient.

The build included:

• Aluminium sheet for the trailer sides, precision cut to the required dimensions
• Aluminium box profile, also cut to length, used to construct the cage framework

Using lightweight yet durable aluminium means the trailer remains strong without adding unnecessary weight, ideal for towing and everyday use.
