Mild Steel Reinforcing A252/ 8mm Mesh sheets are supplied at: 2400mm x 1200mm and at great prices.
Produced to BS 4483, A252 Steel Mesh is used for reinforcing concrete slabs in floors, foundations and other structures. The mesh aperture is 200mm x 200mm and the wires are cold reduced steel wire with a yield strength 460 Mpa 8mm in diameter and are machine welded together, it is sometimes referred to as welded fabric. The cross sectional area per meter width is 252mm sq. Concrete is strong in compression but has a low tensile strength and is brittle. High tensile steel is immersed in the concrete, as the concrete sets and dries out it shrinks and grips the reinforcing bars tightly allowing stresses to be transmitted between the two materials, these can then take some of the tensile loads and reduce bending. The coefficient of thermal expansion of steel is very close to that of concrete, reducing internal stresses caused by changes in temperature
