Student Sculptors Competition terms and conditions

  1. This promotion is open to residents of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and all entrants must be over the age of 18 on the day of entry.
  2. Entrants must be a student to enter the competition. Entrants can be full or part time students studying any subject.
  3. Entrants must upload a photo of their own sculpture or their design via the website landing page and permit the Promoter use of this imagery on its social media platforms.
  4. Only one entry permitted per user. No bulk or third-party entries. If it becomes apparent that a participant is using a computer(s) to circumvent this rule by, for example, the use of brute force, script or any other automated means, that person's entry will be disqualified, and any prize awarded will be void.
  5. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this promotion.
  6. The promotion will close at 23:59 on Sunday 29th March 2020. After this date no further entries to the promotion will be accepted.
  7. The winner will be selected by the competition judge Brian Fell. Brian will judge each entry, and score based on the following criteria: We judge applicants on the images of past and current work. The Statements of Intent are not a significant part of the application and we feel students should try to avoid going into too much detail about the conceptual aspect of their work. We assess the images and try to make a decision on whether the unique properties of steel and the welding/forging process would enable the students work to develop and progress.
  8. A winner will be announced on Monday 13th April 2020 on the competition landing page and across social media. The winner will also be contacted directly via email (using the address supplied during the entry process).
  9. The winner will receive one ticket to attend Brian Fell’s Midsummer Metal Sculpture Course at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park on 20th to 21st June 2020.
  10. There are no cash or other prize alternatives available.
  11. The winner’s travel expenses (UK only) and accommodation for 2 nights will be covered for the attendance of the workshop on 19th & 20th June 2020.
  12. The decision of the promoter is final.
  13. The Promoter’s decision regarding all promotional matters is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  14. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel, amend, terminate or temporarily suspend this promotion at any time, with no liability to any entrants or third parties.
  15. The Promoter reserves the right to use the names and/or likeness of entrants for publicity purposes.
  16. By taking part in this promotion, entrants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions including all entry instructions.
  17. The promotion and these terms and conditions will be governed by English law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
  18. The winner agrees to the use of his/her name and their supplied competition entry image in any publicity material. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrant will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.
