Grade 6063 Aluminium is a medium strength alloy that is one of the most popular alloys in the 6000 series. It is most widely known as an architectural alloy. This grade of Aluminium is most commonly used in intricate extrusions.
This alloy is often used for electrical applications in the -T5, -T52 and -T6 conditions due to its good electrical conductivity.
Grade 6063 alloy has a good surface finish along with a high corrosion resistance. It is well suited for welding and can be anodised easily.
Tempering
Grade6063 can be tempered into many forms, with the most common forms being as followed:
T4 – Solution heat treated and naturally aged
T6 – Solution heat treated and artificially aged

Welding
Grade 6063 Aluminium alloy readily suited to all conventional forms of welding. The recommended welding wires for this grade are 5183 alloy or 4043 alloy, if maximum electrical conductivity is required then 4043 alloy should be used.
If both strength and conductivity are desired, then uses 5346 alloy and increase the size of the weld in order to compensate for the lower conductivity.
