Copper is one of the few metals to naturally occur as an un-compounded mineral, it is a pure metal. It used as a component of various alloys such as bronze and brass. Copper is malleable and ductile, a good conductor of heat and, when pure, a good conductor of electricity. It is used widely for applications ranging from: piping and electronics, as wire or on printed circuits; to architecture, household products, such as cookware and biomedical applications.

Copper is corrosion resistant. Hot or cold working is possible. Cold working increases hardness and strength and requires frequent annealing. Copper can be easily hard and soft soldered.
